“REALISTIC UN-ARMED SELF DEFENSE”

      The Realistic Female Self-Defense Company

Welcome

It’s not about strength, it’s about knowledge.

And, knowledge is a powerful tool!

You have one life and one chance to defend yourself in the event of a physical altercation.  Statistics prove that it is imperative for females to obtain the knowledge of  self-defense and awareness in today’s society.   The harsh reality is that at some point during your life, you or someone you love will be victimized.

Being armed with the right information

is a female’s best defense.

What is self-defense?  Self-defense is defending oneself against a viable threat when no other options conceivably exist.  You only use self-defense if you have to.  Using self-defense is a means of escape and ultimate survival.  You have to have the ability to assess a situation to determine whether self-defense is necessary and/or useful.

Awareness is the first key to self-defense.  The best form of self-defense is the kind you do not need to use.  If you can AVOID a potentially threatening situation, your best bet is to do so.  Common sense and awareness is PREVENTATIVE self-defense to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

The Realistic Female Self-Defense Company teaches a full range of skills, builds your confidence and provides you with the defensive power and wisdom you will need to ward off an attack.  Training is not martial arts but rather teaching females how to defend themselves with “realistic un-armed self-defense”™  training.  Students are taught how to use their bodies and minds (forming mental blueprints) to defend themselves in a safe environment and in controlled situations to remain safe and unharmed, realistically.  Students are educated about awareness, the ability to recognize the warning signs; and taught proactive options both mentally and physically.

Ask yourself:

· Would I like to be educated about awareness, the first step to self-defense?

· Would I like to be taught how to use my body and mind to “realistically” defend myself in case of an attempted assault?

· Would I like to be taught how to recognize “warning signs” of an abusive relationship and/or prior to an altercation?

IF YOU ANSWERED “YES” TO ANY OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR DESTINY.

OBTAIN TRAINING THAT YOU WILL HAVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Why Self-Defense Courses?

What is the difference between martial arts courses and self-defense courses?

There is a large distinction between martial arts and pure self-defense.  Most martial arts offer long-term programs, levels to be achieved, required memorization of a series of choreographed techniques, controlled sparring and the study of various weapons.

Most women seek information on how to stay safe and/or fight back, and are not interested in spending four to six years studying a martial art in order to feel more secure.  Self-defense is a conscious, proactive approach to life.  It is comprised of a series of both learned and inherent behavioral and cognitive options that you must choose to put to work for you.  It should include a series of physical self-defense options which could be used, as a last resort, if you were to be physically attacked.

What can I learn?

A good self-defense course can provide many benefits.  The following are some important areas that should be covered:

*Facts and statistics about crime and self-defense.

*Myths that keep violence against women in place and growing.

*Cognitive and behavioral options - tools like awareness and intuition that can be used to avoid violent crime.

*Boundary-setting information - how to communicate “No!”

*Physical self-defense techniques that an average person can learn easily, practice, and use if necessary.  Courses that use padded male attackers, when presented safely and consciously, offer the most “real life” training experience.

*Information resources - survivor information and safety tips.

What questions should I ask?

*Who is/are the instructor(s)?  Male or female?  Does the class offer padded male attackers for realistic training experience?

*What does the course teach?  Does it offer a well-rounded curriculum with both physical and behavioral options?

*Will I have to “re-live” or “re-create” an attack if I have experienced one in the past?  (If you have survived a sexual or other assault, you may not want to re-live it in front of the class.  Select a teacher who does not require you to do that if you don’t want to.  However, learning how to fight and being able to practice on a padded attacker is enormously empowering for a lot of people.)

*Is the course appropriate for my age group?

*Where, when, how much and how long is the course?

Some of this information comes from The National Coalition Against Sexual Assault

website’s guidelines for selecting a self-defense course

by Kerry Kolmar, Director of Martial Hearts, Inc.

A self-defense course can empower you with a few techniques and ideas to interrupt an assault long enough to escape.  There are no guarantees.  Anyone can be victimized even if you have taken a self-defense course.  Once you’ve completed a self-defense course it’s up to you to put the information you gained to work for you in your day-to-day life.

Your ability to effectively use the physical self-defense options that you learn will be dependent upon your ability to remember what you learned in the course and your willingness to practice - with intensity and regularity - those techniques.
